US Permit Test is a free study resource for the driver's permit knowledge test in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. We write original practice questions grounded in each state's official driver handbook and traffic laws, and we publish the requirements that matter — question counts, passing scores, minimum ages, and fees — with the official source and the date we verified it.

How we verify facts

Every requirement shown on a state page is traced to an official government source — the state licensing agency's website or state law. When we can't verify something against an official source, we don't show it; we tell you to check your state's official site instead. Each state page shows when its facts were last verified.

What we are not

We are an independent website. We are not a government agency, we can't issue permits or licenses, and passing our practice tests doesn't guarantee you'll pass the real exam — though it helps. Always rely on your state's official handbook as the final word.
