New-driver rules in Wyoming
Wyoming issues an instruction (learner) permit at 15 once you pass the written test and vision screening; it is valid one year, may be renewed, and you must drive with a licensed person over 18 in the front passenger seat. At 16, after holding the permit at least 10 days, completing 50 hours of practice driving including 10 hours at night, and passing the skills test, you may move up to an intermediate permit, which limits driving to the hours between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. and allows no more than one passenger under 18 who is not immediate family. Full driving privileges come at 16 after six months on the intermediate permit plus an approved driver education course; without that course you wait until 17.
